What’s up blockheads!!
I am so happy you find yourself stumbling upon my blog during this busy holiday season.
When people tend to talk about their own obsessions or of others, one usually begins with the statement, “My dad is the biggest fan of ____ ever!” or “You will never meet someone more obsessed with ____ than me!”
While most of those statements tend to be an exaggeration, I can confidently say my mother is the biggest Snoopy fan to ever walk the face of this Earth.
I am truly surprised my name isn’t Lucy, Sally or Peppermint Patty (thank God).
Charles M. Schulz and his fictional characters captured my mother’s attention early on in her childhood through his cartoons of the Peanuts found in the newspaper on Sunday mornings.
But what really fixated her fascination was the airing of A Charlie Brown Christmas on CBS in 1965.
From that point on, the next 52 Christmases were to be a time to display all things Snoopy.
Over the course of the last 3 years I have filmed short videos using “Snapchat” to display my mother’s obsession. This year I decided to make a video to put some of her trademark items on display.
Although there are many Snoopy items presented throughout this video, this is nowhere near all of it as I find myself to be rather tired/hungover to capture all of the Peanuts memorabilia because it would take hours.
To most people Christmas means lights, presents, evergreen (or artificial) trees, cookies, etc.
For me, Christmas is the infestation of the Peanuts gang in my home to serve as a constant reminder that you are never too old to grow out of the things that make you happy… even if it’s friggin weird.
Wishing you all a very Snoopy Christmas!
P.S. When my mom dies I have no idea what I am going to do with all this shit so feel free to call dibs on whatever you want! Good grief!!!
